How to Lounge Around Lenno Lake Como: My Favorite Places for Sun and a Spritz

If you’ve ever wanted a slow, sun-soaked day on the lake—lounging, wandering, and sipping a chilled spritz—then Lenno Lake Como is the kind of place that elevates any visit with its great lake views and tucked-away lidos perfect for stretching out in the sun. I first ended up in Lenno on my way to Villa del Balbianello, but the real surprise wasn’t the villa at all.

It was the stretch of waterfront that made me want to drop my plans, claim a lounge chair, and settle in for the afternoon. Between the swim-friendly shoreline, the relaxed lungo lago walk, and that spritz-in-the-sun moment you can’t quite recreate anywhere else, Lenno Lake Como is an effortless, day trip—whether you’re coming up from Milan or staying elsewhere on the lake without beach or pool access.

Why Lenno Lake Como Makes Such a Good Lakeside Escape

There’s something wonderfully unhurried about Lenno Lake Como, a feeling that sets in as soon as you reach the shoreline. The town is calm without being dull, and scenic without the crowd patterns you find farther north.

Most day-trippers only stop long enough to hike or catch the boat to Villa del Balbianello , which leaves the waterfront itself perfectly open for walking. That’s exactly why Lenno Lake Como has become one of my favorite spots for a relaxed day built entirely around sunshine, lake breezes, and good food.

Lido di Lenno: My Go-To Sun Lounging Spot

My perfect Lenno Lake Como day almost begins at Lido di Lenno, run by Giulietta al Lago. This small, stylish Lido has a way of balancing comfort and atmosphere that keeps me returning. You can rent a lounge chair for the day and it comes with a towel.

I love that you can choose seats set right on the sand or slightly farther back on the grass depending on how close you like to be to the water. Prices in 2025 ranged from €18 to €25 on weekdays and €25 to €35 on weekends or holidays, depending on how close you want to sit, and while 2026 rates aren’t out yet, it’s a helpful benchmark for anyone planning a visit.

The food is part of the fun here—casual enough to be easy, but always solid. They have everything from cappuccinos and focaccia to salads and pinzas, and it always hits that perfect “I’m at the lake and eating well” sweet spot. My favorite moment at Giuletta, though, is slipping into a lounge chair, feeling the sun warm up for the day, and ordering a chilled spritz. That’s when Lenno Lake Como feels like it’s meant for lingering.

The Best Lungolago Walk in the Area

One thing people don’t expect from Lenno Lake Como is just how pretty the lakeside promenade is. The walkway curves along the shoreline with gentle views of the water and the mountains, passing boat docks, gardens, and little pockets of shade. It’s peaceful, photogenic, and perfect for stretching out your day before or after a Lido session.

It’s also one of those rare Lake Como walks that gives you uninterrupted lake views without pushing you into crowds. Whether you stroll it in the late morning or at golden hour, the walkway is one of the reasons Lenno Lake Como feels like such a rewarding stop.

Where to Eat in Lenno Lake Como

Lunch in Lenno Lake Como is one of the joys of building a day around the waterfront. The first time I came here, I ate at Bistro Il Golfo and ended up with a bowl of pizzoccheri—a total surprise, as it’s one of my favorite pastas, and incredibly tough to find in Milan. Sitting outside on their terrace with the lake right in front of me made for an easy and satisfying break.

If you want something a bit more refined, Ristorante Giglio inside Albergo Lenno is an elegant option with great lakefront seating. And if you’re lounging at Hotel San Giorgio for the pool day, the small restaurant on-site makes for a relaxed and fuss-free meal.

Still, there are plenty of days when the easiest choice is the food at Giulietta al Lago itself—you’re already reclining, the kitchen is reliable, and the spritzes are exactly what you want on a warm afternoon at Lenno Lake Como.

Hotel San Giorgio’s Pool: A Quiet, Heated Escape

Another incredible sun lounging option in Lenno Lake Como is the heated pool at Hotel San Giorgio. It sits in a peaceful stretch of parkland and feels wonderfully removed from the road and any commotion. The pool is heated from April through October, which means you can enjoy an outdoor swim earlier and later in the season than almost anywhere else on the lake.

Non-guests can purchase a day pass for about €30 (2025 rate), which includes a towel and access from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and because the space is so spacious and serene, it feels like affordable luxury at its best.

How to Get to Lenno Lake Como

If you’re driving, Lenno Lake Como is an easy 1 hour and 15 minutes from Milan, and parking at Hotel San Giorgio is included with a day pool pass. But I don’t have a car, so my go-to is the train-to-Como route.

From Milan, you can take the train from Milano Cadorna to Como Lago or from Milano Garibaldi or Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni to reach Como Town at the beginning of the lake. Then from either station, you can hop on the C110 bus, which takes about 50 minutes once you’re on board.

Another good option—once spring ferry schedules begin on March 23, 2026—is to mix bus and ferry. Como Lago is steps from the ferry dock, making it easy to sail north, and even from San Giovanni it’s a doable 15-minute walk. Sometimes I’ll take the bus up and the ferry back, which makes the return to Milan feel a little more scenic. No matter which route you choose, Lenno Lake Como is absolutely doable as a day trip.

Make Lenno Lake Como a Weekend

If you’ve got the flexibility, Lenno also makes a great weekend trip. Staying overnight gives you the time to walk a longer stretch of the Lake Como Greenway—not just the scenic portion that hugs the Lenno lungolago—but the hilltop segments that open up different views looking out over small lakeside tow It also gives you time to visit some of the incredible villas nearby, or even head north for a gourmet lakefront meal in Tremezzo.

And if you’re planning a broader trip around Lenno Lake Como, my Lake Como Travel Guide is the best place to pick out more towns to visit, understand transportation options, and find seasonal planning tips so you don’t miss anything.

Best Places to Stay in Lenno Lake Como

If you decide to turn your Lenno day into a full weekend, the town has a handful of great accommodations that fit different travel styles. The Villa De Herra apartments sit inside a castle-like villa set above the lake and offer a truly unique stay.

Il Grifo is a small boutique hotel with a warm, local feel. Albergo Lenno offers a classic lakeside experience with its own pool. And Hotel San Giorgio remains my top pick if you want that heated pool, parkland, and leisurely atmosphere.
